@CCC I use silicone spray (WD40 silicone, to be specific) as per other recs here on the forum. It made quite a bit of difference, though like MuttonChops, I have the raised screw heads to deal with.

There is a product called sailkote that is used to help sails slide in a similar slot. Works real well to help sails with a bolt rope slide in the groove. It’s a dry lubricant.
