Rear camera and license plate light

I have a wireless backup camera that I want to wire into the license plate light (I know I have to have my running lights "on" for it to be powered).  I've seen lots of posts where people say they did that and the "wiring was easy"...but nobody seems to provide wiring details.  I have a red and black wire on the camera and a brown and white wire to my license plate light.  Can anyone help me with which wire goes where?  Thanks.

Rather than using the license plate light for power, we passed a wire through the wall behind the license plate and connected to the reading light wire that passes by that location. The only advantage to this is that you don't have to be plugged into the tow vehicle with the lights on for the camera to work.

That had me thinking of any advantage to having constant power to the camera. The only reason I could come up with is the ability to bring your monitor inside and view behind your trailer. Not a problem in a 400 with the stargazer window, but with a 320 you might be able to identify a noise without sticking your head out the door. Anyone do this?

I got power for mine from the running lights post (green wires on my 2021) in the junction box under the tongue. No holes drilled. Just ran the cable between the bottom panel and the floor to the box and sealed both ends with a little dicor sealant. A multi-meter and knowing how to use it is a good idea.
