Our accent lighting above the kitchenette

Newby here ... In our 2018 T@B 400, the strip LED accent lighting above the kitchenette and high above the kitchen counter is not working.  The strip LED accent lighting just above the counter and all other lights are working. Any thoughts or tips on how to fix?

Brad

@Papabear, we are oldtimers and adhere to the general rule of having twice the tow vehicle rating above the actual trailer and ensuing gear lbs. That would mean in general a full sized pickup truck for the t@b 400 and gear to make sure your have adequate capacity, both towing and stopping. But there are many differing views on this. Is safety your priority above everything else? Is fuel economy a major factor? Will you only consider a passenger type vehicle?

Much of your consideration should be placed on tow vehicle wheelbase between axles. The longer the wheelbase the more stable the tow vehicle.

Now our personal recommendation. We are General Motors fans. A Chevy Silverado, or GMC Sierra would be first choice. Keep in mind that the t@b 400's of both 2018 and 2019 had the heaviest tongue weights of all the model years with tongue weights of 500/600 lbs. If a full sized pickup is too much, there have been great reviews here on the forum of Chevy/GMC Colorado & Canyons with  the Duramax or V8 engines and equipped with the factory tow package including transmission coolers handling the 400's very well. Aftermarket alterations to enable towing are usually not as "beefy", or integrated into the vehicle's systems and for us are not the ideal.

We are very familiar with California geography and feel confident recommending that you have more engine and tranny power than the minimum to get you over and through the mountains for more worry free long distance and long term travels.

We know that others will feel the same about Fords, Dodge, Ram, Toyota etc, etc. Our argument is for a long wheelbase, more power than you think you need and plenty of storage/cargo space. The more power argument doesn't hold if you are comfortable towing within minimum or acceptable limits. And you really won't need the greater capacities, until you do! Good luck and enjoy the journey. It's all part of the adventure.

Bead, Do the accent lights above the dinette front area come on when you turn on the switch labeled Accent?  This turns on the galley accent lights on top the overhead cabinets and the strip just under the overhead locker doors, as well as the LCD strip lights over the entry door and over the dinette table at the front, and drivers side dinette cubby area.  Should look like this:

If only part of these lights are working, a wire connection to the LCD strip would be the first place to look.  If none are working, then a fuse might be blown.

@dragonsdofly, thanks for the detailed information on T@B 400 tow vehicles. I have been waiting for the used vehicle market to stablilize prior to purchase and have till mid 2023. I currently use a 2004 F-150 CNG with tow package. It easily and safely tows the trailer but has limited destinations due to the availability and location of CNG.  I am a big Ford F 150 fan and may end up with another. I will be using T@B Forum on making my final decision. @Denny16, thanks for the information on the T@B 400 accent lighting. The accent lighting stops at an single LED in the strip high above the kitchen counter top. I have ordered some 5050 snap down 2 conductor LED strip connectors that may fix the issue. Also purchased some additional 5050 LED strip just in case. I'll let you know how the fix goes. Brad

Brad, you are welcome, sounds like one of the LEDs failed on the strip and blocked the flow of electricity to the rest of the strips.
