Roof fan cover

Do you feel like the roof fan vent cover (that allows you to leave the vent open in rain) really restricts the air volume coming into the trailer?  To me it seems like air flow is really restricted when the fan is set to bring in outside air.

That hasn’t been a big concern for me, and I installed the low profile Aero-Flo cover. I consider it one the best modifications that I’ve made.

@lkc001, I agree with @Marceline.  I installed the Dometic "Ultra Breeze" U1400 cover over my Fantastic Fan vent and have really enjoyed it.  It does not restrict the air flow entering the trailer and I like having the vent open all the way when it is raining.

I recently installed a Fanmate cover that's easy to fasten or remove from a MaxxFan Plus (that's what's on our 2023 320s). I'm running the fan constantly and there's no perceptible difference in airflow. The bigger constraint on airflow (I'm currently venting upward with the fan) is how much window opening you're providing. The biggest drawback is our Fanmate cover is black, and that blocks light that we otherwise get through the clear fan blades and transparent fan lid.

@bjn2 Regarding the airflow (venting upward) I have observed the same with our Ultrabreeze. In fact you can hear a difference in the tone of the fan.

Haven't noticed as every fan I've had I've put a vent cover on. I have the Camco cover on my T@B. Being able to keep and leave it open even in the rain more than makes up for a small reduction if any in airflow.

I need to remove the screen on my 2017 T@B 320 S ceiling fan in order to clean it. There is a small slot on the ring that keeps the screen in place. If I try to force the ring edge down I’m afraid I might break it.
    What am I doing wrong?

You’re not doing anything wrong— you have to put your finger on that slot or barely put the tip of a flat screwdriver in that slot & pull down hard— it will pop open.  I know it feels like you are going to break it but you have to pull hard— after the first time you will know.  Then to reinstall you have to push kind of hard to get it to snap back in.

OP asked if cover reduces air flow.  Yes, it has to.  Redirect flow from three sides of open vent to rear louvered outlet.  Passive heat venting is reduced.

However when fan is running you can get strong air exchange.  Overall the weatherization benefit outweighs most concerns over flow loss.

Some say it's a breeze to install.

The MaxxAir MaxxFan works pretty well, either direction, in the rain. It's such an improvement over the included fans. (I replaced both with MaxxFans.)
