Leaking shower drain question

Hi all,

We have a 2024 Tab 400 and the shower drain is leaking. At first it was leaking at the fitting that screws on to the shower drain (red arrows) and I thought I fixed that by tightening up the screw on fitting (yellow arrow). But now it is leaking in the area between the screw on fitting and the flange nut above that fitting. Water is seeping out in the area of the blue arrow.

I took the assembly apart and was surprised to see no gasket between the drain assembly and the flange (green arrow) that screws on to the drain. I did not take a picture of it apart but the flange nut is the big item that screws on to the drain assembly itself just above the blue arrow in the pic:

This is the third plumbing issue I have come across in the few weeks we have owned the camper. When I email nuCamp support that have been pretty fast in replying but I am getting tired of finding problems with a brand new camper. We had a 320 before this and had zero issues so I am surprised at this experience.

Has anyone had this area apart, did you have a gasket between the flange nut and the drain assembly? I know that is how it is done in household plumbing.

Thanks,
j

I haven't specifically dismantled the T@B drain, but have installed and serviced quite a few house drains. I agree with you regarding a gasket, but sometimes that gasket a tapered nylon compression ring that is hidden under the flange nut. My experience in those cases is that sometimes getting a good seal is a little tricky.
Whether you have such a gasket or not I don't know, but regardless, it shouldn't be leaking. If it were me I'd probably just unscrew that assembly and take a look around. The nylon flange (if there is one) could be deformed or improperly seated. Scratches or deformities on the pipe surfaces can also cause small leaks.
Good luck and please let us know what you figure out.

    Ah ha! Fingered it out!
Turns out there was not a good seal around the drain basket and the shower floor itself. Figured this out by covering the center of the drain with gorilla tape but left the outer edge of the drain assembly uncovered. Poured some water and could then see water coming down over the flange (green arrow).
Popped the drain out of the shower, re-did the silicone and that stopped that leak and then I was able to really tighten down the connector fitting (yellow arrow) and that stopped the seeping there.
    Think I'm all good. W00t!
