new tongue jack for tailgate clearance

I installed this jack yesterday. It has flexible design in that you can remove it all together or drop the outer sleave to the ground and lower the handle portion to clear the tailgate in the open position. It took a small amount of grinding to enlarge the pass-through spot on the existing plate. once that was done the slots on the jack needed a little enlarging as well. The I was able to use the existing bolts. $89 The Ultimate Trailer Jack 2,000 lb. Lift Capacity Trailer Jack, RDJ-2K at Tractor Supply Co.

I jury rigged a side-mount swing away jack on the side of my tongue.  I like it a lot better than trying to pull the pin on the wheel to take it off every time. The tongue beam had a stupid weld that changed the angle, so I had to get creative.  It's only 300 or so lbs, so.....  Entire jack swings up nicely under the tongue platform.

I haven't used the pin in several years. Just drop the post into the pocket. It's plenty deep enough to not pop out. We've manually dragged our 320 over all types of terrain and never had it budge a bit.

i liked the swing away jack as well. Just could not see a good way to mount it where it would swing into position so I could drop the tailgate

Not sure if they are available commercially, but a jockey wheel search may turn up something.

I'm guessing that most of what you'll find will be homemade. My wheels came from Harbor Freight. I believe the handle was taken off a pull cart of some kind. It had been laying around my basement for a long time. I shorted up the existing wheel fork to make it more rigid. It's not that hard of a DIY project if you can't find one to purchase.
