T@b 360

Hi out there! We just purchased a T@b 360 Black Canyon. We love the cabin and the spaciousness compared to our 2016 320, but we are having a bit of an issue with it and would really appreciate any photos you may have taken of your new 360's front end, focusing on the hitch and jack. Thank you!

What kind of issues are you having?

Along the way, we are assuming during transport but who can say... the hitch was hit with something and is twisted. Also, the A frame itself was welded poorly and needs to be redone. Very disappointing to say the least.

Would love to see a new 360 and what it is supposed to look like! Our dealership is 600 km away.

Post the picture you want me to replicate. Your post raises a lot of questions. Are you saying you purchased a brand new trailer and in your excitement did not notice that the frame is damaged? By damaged in transport do you mean damaged by you, or damaged during shipping?  Unless you had some sort of incident on the way home it's up to the dealer to correct any frame or hitch issues, which could be quite serious. But it's hard to believe they would send you away in that condition. I would go so far as to say they would need to come to you with a flatbed at their expense if so. But obviously I do not know the particulars of your situation.

Here are photos. Glancing at it/walking by nothing really glares as being abnormal, but when we took a closer look at home, we saw the damage. Someone has spray painted the hitch and jack post. The stickers on the jack post are now all covered over. We've no idea what the stickers say... are they important?

Wow, it does look like someone tried to cover up the damage.  And aside from the twist right there at the hitch, I'd also be concerned about the frame in general.  Something strong enough to twist that hitch might have also put your frame out of whack- though from the front view it does look isolated to the hitch.  I'm not an expert, but the condition of that hitch looks downright dangerous.  I don't know that I wouldn't accept this camper, even if they fixed it.

It's really unfortunate you did not notice this during your delivery walkthrough. The coupler is definitely twisted and it appears the clamp mechanism was dented. You mentioned a questionable weld, which I can't see from the photo, but sounds serious. And since it was painted over someone obviously noticed it and either didn't understand how important it was or decided it wasn't their problem. Either way I would not accept this trailer and I'm not sure I would tow it. Since you know it's damaged what if something happens? Not sure what your relationship is with the dealer but I would absolutely insist they come get it. If they push back I would go straight to NuCamp. Maybe someone else has a different opinion or solution. Sorry this is clouding your otherwise exciting new purchase.

@CanadianCamper, I agree with @Gomers2.  Can you provide some more details regarding the circumstances of the purchase, whether it was from a T@B dealer, and were any representations about the condition of the trailer made to you?

It really isn't clear from your original post whether the bent coupler appears as it did before you left the dealer, or it  occurred while you were transporting the trailer home.  If the dealer sold it to you in that condition, then you definitely need to have them come pick it up.  You do not want the potential liability risk that could result from towing it anywhere.

At a minimum, the seller needs to repair the damage, BUT I would not settle for that.  If that is how they sold it to you, I would recommend that you pursue voiding the sale and obtain a full refund of your purchase funds ASAP.  And, if it was sold to you as "new," the failure to inform you about the damage to the coupler/frame, and the painting over would be a material misrepresentation (fraud.)  I would be very concerned what the hidden damage to the trailer frame may be.

Be sure to take a picture of the silver sticker on the A-frame on the driver's side.  It provides the VIN and date of manufacture, which you will need.  If/when you contact nuCamp, they are going to want that info.

What is the date of manufacture posted on that label?

Thank you for your comment. We purchased the trailer new from a dealer; we'd special ordered it through them with the Black Canyon option. They said nothing to us about the condition. However, a few minutes ago we received two photos from the dealer taken, we assume, when they towed it into the shop to get it ready for us.  The bent hitch can be seen clearly in the photos. As well, it has black chains whereas they are silver on our trailer, and the jack post has the blue sticker -- no spray painting has been done to it.

We agree with you that we do not want to settle for a repair.  Essentially we were sold a 'used' trailer masquerading as new. The photos from the dealer show the twisted coupler as well as the original jack post, unpainted. Clearly, they "touched up" that area before selling it to us.

Thanks for the additional info, @CanadianCamper.  It sounds like you have what you need to make things right.  The faster you act, the better.  If you get any push-back, contact nuCamp immediately.  Either way, you should share your experience with nuCamp.  Please let us know how things work out.  Best of luck to you!
