After doing a little research and looking at this post link below, I decided to replace my failed Danby with a similar Midea 6000 btu air conditioner.
My model number is slightly different just purchased in July 2025. Apparently it's a better fit than the previous poster's model.
My model #MAWO6R1YWT-S purchased at Sam's Club for $159 on sale.

This is the finished product. No spacers behind the unit were needed. The new unit filled the space front to back. The trim piece had to be refitted though and in order to clean the filter, the trim piece will need to be removed.
I removed the deflectors from the Danby AC and placed them on the back of the Midea AC before installing. I used 2" 3M tape

Nice fit ReenieG!  You may want to consider stuffing some insulation in any space between the box and the A/C unit, although, on yours, there isn’t much of a gap.

Thanks Sharon. I've already wedged the foam insulation that came with the new unit underneath the frame piece to take care of that gap. Here's what it looks like without the trim piece.
