I am thinking of purchasing a 2015 TAB MAX S ...Will my Subaru Outback be able to pull/handle this? According to my manual 2,700 is tow capacity... just wondering if anyone has experience.
I actually pulled with a '12 forester (rated for 2400 pounds). With the exception of the mountains and very steep long hills, it was fine. Certainly not overpowered, but worked for over 3 years. Many people pull t@b trailers with their Outback. What year is the outback and what engine size do you have?
I'm pulling mine with the 2015 Subaru Outback 4-cylinder just fine. The desired towing capacity is 2000 and the outback surpasses that. I also like the manual downshifting in steep descends.

I think what needs to be considered is whether these folks with Subaru regularly tow through the mountains. My Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a 3500 capacity was at a crawl going over Monarch Pass with the T@b. It was never fast going over passes, but i think that was the slowest I have seen.

We are camped at Colorado national monument. There was a newer outback pulling a newer tab CS here last night. Looked to be doing just fine. Run the numbers it's not a bad way to go. However a lot depends on your comfort level and driving style.
Went over 6 passes in Colorado and Forester did well. IF you have a Suburu Outback, I'd give it a try before deciding it won't work. forester worked well for me for three years. My next car had more power (Escape with 3500 lbs). It is definitely better to have more power, but the Suburu worked fine. Again, in high mountains, it wasn't "great", but I criss crossed Colorado twice in it and it worked fine and a separate trip to Yellowstone (up thru the divide from tetons). It will certainly get you thru in a pinch and you can decide if you want more power after you purchase T@B. If you're going thru steep mountain passes you may decide that you want more, but as I said, I went three years before I decided to upgrade.
Depending on you camping style and locations, the Outback could offer a great experience.
I have a '16 Outback 4 cyl and it handles my '15 T@B CS-S Max well. Haven't tackled any Rocky Mtns, only the Greens in Vermont. My previous TV was a '15 Forester, but discovered after we purchased the T@B that it wasn't tow rated for the camper. NewB learning experience #1. The Forester handled well too. Just didn't want to take a chance "in the event of..."
Aloha Colorado gal, We also have a 2015 Outback and will be towing a 2015 CSS. We live in Hilo Hawaii and have never seen a T@b in person and probably won't till next July,2016 when we take delivery. Can you still open the rear hatch on your Outback while hooked up to T@b trailer?
If the jack gets in the way of a tailgate - like on my Jeep - search Google for the "Jack-E-Up" - Allows one to remove the jack once hooked up. Doesn't feel real stable when you first start cranking but once there's weight on it, it firms right up.
Thanks, We'll be towing Tab cross country and have a large german sheperd with us. Being able to open rear gate without unhooking Tab would make things less complicated.
I just bought a 2016 Outback and t@b CS-S. We took our maiden voyage from California to Oregon Thanksgiving weekend. So far so good. We went up and down many, many mountains without any issues!
Hi can you please tell me your weight limit on your vehicle as I am looking into a claim shell css and my vehicle weight Is 1500 it is a 2015 Toyota rava 4 cyl.. Thanks
Colorado girl: I live in Phoenix (elevation 1000) but have towed to flagstaff (7000 ft) and big lake (9000 ft) and it still handled fine. I imagine how much other weight you are carrying might affect it but I had no problems. Plus I think they look good together ;-))

I have a 2013 Outback and towing my T@B SMax is no problem. Gas mileage is cut in half but that should be no surprise. The electric brakes are a must, making handling nice and smooth.
