Lexus RX

Does anyone tow their T@B with a Lexus RX?
If so how did you deal with getting a 7 pin fully wired? We would like to get an RX next and then use a the RF Brake Controller?

I tow my T@DA with a Lexus RX450h (hybrid).  The Lexus tow package did not include a charge line in the 7-blade connector.  As you've realized, you need that for the Prodigy RF controller.  I had Preston from Miller Trailer Sales wire a separate charge line to the auxiliary battery in the vehicle (not the hybrid batteries).

Thanks I 'm a little concerned about giving the manufacturer an out regarding warranty on a $50k car when you have to cut wires to install a 7 pin over the 4  flt pin.

Do not cut the 4 pin wiring.  I used this adapter:

I still have a flat 4 for my little boat trailer.

I slightly modified the included bracket to bolt directly to the existing flat 4 mount. That way, it is easy to put back to 100% stock and

Many small SUV's have an electrical box in the rear and you can tap a line in that.  My Lincoln MKC had a spare 30A fuse just for this purpose.  I only had to run the 10 GA wire (12 ga would be fine for that short of a run as well) from the fuse terminal dow to the 7 Pin socket.  This was only about a 5' run total.  I was careful to run the wire through he correct body grommet to make sure is could not short out on any metal.

Some times a little poking around in the rear compartment can save a lot of effort to run the wire all the way up to the battery...

I had the Lexus dealer install the 7 blade adapter prior to delivery.

Lisa33  What did you use for a brake controller? The GM at our Dealership said there should not be any problem doing this or with warranty as they will do it.
    Thanks

The Prodigy is a sweet controller and easy enough to set up.  I'm very happy with mine!

Thanks Mike. If we can get a good trade for our Lexus GX we will get an RX ( Kris wants to downsize) IF the dealership will put a fully functioning 7 pin on her.
We will use the Prodigy RF as I am sure Lexus will not want to cut wires at the dash.
    Thanks again
