Television picture quality - HDMI?

We watched a couple movies last weekend when we had very rainy evenings and noticed that the picture quality on the Jensen television is not very clear.

DH noticed that the TV has a couple of HDMI inputs and was wondering if anyone has used those instead of the component video inputs.

I am using HDMI for Miracast. Not the greatest, but OK.

The back of the Jensen unit over the sink does not have a HDMI port (the television does).  I installed a separate BluRay player next to the A/C cabinet and ran a power line and HDMI cable to the television.  Needed to take the mirror off the bathroom wall and the white plastic plate behind the television to run the wires.  Now have MUCH better picture and sound quality.

BTW, the picture quality on my television is excellent when I can get local HD stations on my rabbit ears antennae from Walmart.  Try that to see if it's the TV or the DVD player that's causing the poor picture.
