the exhaust vented grate and screen also expose the cabinet housing the ac in in my max s. Has anyone had problems with a rain getting in on very windy day? Any mods done here? thanks
You should not experience any problems with rain getting in. The sides, top and bottom of the grill opening are sealed with aluminum tape. If any rain where to get in, it would fall to the A/C drip pan and evaporate or make its way to the drain tube.

Ace - To keep wind out, you can get a snap on cover from the LG store or if you search for "AC cover" you should find where @sabel fashioned one from plastic cardboard sign material. I went the @sabel route.
Bought the 1/2" aluminum C-channel at Home Depot ( 8' for $13). Had the 3/8" chip board laying around for some other project. Cut C-channel to match the outside dimensions of the existing AC grill. Drilled thru holes to line up with the existing screws in the AC grill. Holes in the outside of the C-channel need to be larger then the inside one to allow you to get a screwdriver to the screws going thru the inner side of the C-channel. I added two additional screws to each side & one on the bottom. The chip board slips in from the top & for added safety I use the bungie strap. Pretty easy project needing only a hacksaw, drill & screw driver.
