Realistic Travel Time...

Hello T@B Peeps... again!  Since this group is so great with advice, I thought I would throw out another question. Couldn't find an answer, per se, already posted.

What are realistic travel times?  Let's say I need to drive 350 miles and I'm not going over 65 miles per hour so that equates to around 5.4 hours, which Google Maps say 5.5 hours.  With the obvious unknown issues that might arise, would be 6.5 hours (noting time to get gas and stop for a bit of a rest) be reasonable?  Or does pulling at T@B with a Ford Escape (3500# rating) should I plan for more time.  Also note, that I'm traveling from Prescott, AZ to Cortez, CO via Hwy 17, 89 and then 160 in AZ, which means pulling up some mountain areas.

Just looking for experienced thoughts here... which I always seem to get from here!
=)

If google maps says 5.5 hours we'd probably plan on 7-7.5. A gas stop, a lunch stop, a couple potty stops. And this is roadwork season in the north, no way you're gonna sustain 65 for 350 miles.

We just did around 350 miles--mostly US highways and some some decent state roads. Google said ~7.25 hours. Took ~8.5 hours with stops for gas and a picnic lunch. I don't think having the T@B slowed us down much.

In general I figure another hour per five of actual driving time.

Google gives u the optimum driving conditions time. My partner just drove from Los angeles to NY city. Google said 41 hours. Took her 49 with stops and traffic.

I find that it takes me three hours for every two.  For example, I drove home yesterday and Google (and Waze) said 2 hours.  It took me three.  Why?  We ran into high winds, rain and hail for 15 minutes and had to pull over.  Then, because the wind persisted after the rain stopped, I decided to re-route us so we didn't have to go over the Burlington Skyway. (Bridge with known issues of crosswinds  http://www.citynews.ca/2017/03/08/burlington-skyway-reopens-after-high-winds-topple-transport-truck/)  It just always takes longer than expected.
