48” cable lock with alarm

We just got our new Honda 2000 generator. Found this cable lock to help secure it. I prefer cable over chain because in my experience cable is harder to cut with bolt cutters or hack saws than chain. This cable lock also has an alarm feature.

    Thanks for this info. I just ordered it and like that you can set the alarm or it has a setting to lock without the alarm.

    @Dalehelman, you'll find that coiling annoying lol. But I have one for my commuter bicycle, There was rash of thefts, even bikes like my cruddy commuter bikes! 

    There are just as thick cables with industrially crimped end loops on both ends. I can pull the loop through the other one end around something and then put a heavy duty lock through the other end. Seems to allow for further placement of the generator. I bought two and two locks and cables in case I needed more length to keep the exhaust away from intakes. I got them at HD.

    BTW, 48' in a circle is only 2 feet free.

    @Ratkity I have a couple of various cables and chains around. I like this one because of the alarm feature. If someone wants it bad enough they will take it. I just want them to make some noise doing it. My old systemwas a couple of cow bells  and some fishing line.

    :rofl:@Dalehelman !! Your old system sounds like my Dad's. On late Xmas Eve he would shut a homemade gate at the top of the stairs and tie fishing line all over it. We had to untie the fishing line without breaking it before going down for presents on Xmas. Of course, we'd pitch the youngest sister over the banister to get a peek. Babies bounce lol.

    @ericnliz the cable is 6 ft long. It's more of a decapitation device than a feet tripper!

    Oh @Dalehelman, there's a metal handle setup you can put on your Honda gen so people can't cut through the plastic handle.

    @Ratkity. I think I’ll get one of those handle things. I got such a good deal on my generator I don’t want to lose it. Besides the handle on it has already been cut.

    Up date on this item. I received it today unfortunately it didn’t work.  The cable was also shorter than I expected. I will be looking for a different type.

    I lock up my generator with a Honda theft deterrent handle and two Kanulock straps.  Also plan to find a plastic bin to store the generator in on my Outback rack.  So sad that we have take so many precautions to avoid losing our toys to theft!
