we are currently negotiating the purchase of a 230 s and am curious what the members may be using for over the air stations as far as an antenna and how did y ou mount it? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
I recently got this one for my 3-month trip and thought I could either try it inside or outside. I have an extendable painter's pole. Took a 12"x12" piece of 1/4" plywood and installed 2 wing nuts to hold the antenna on (see the holes in the top?). Used 2 clamps on the back that hold it to the pole. Now a question --- I thought it'd work good outside but I didn't pick up but 1-2 stations. Does anyone think the wood would interfere with the signal? Or it could be I'm at a county park in a very hilly section of Vista, CA and the park is in a low point. Maybe not a good line of sight I think ---- just wondered if my mounting hack was the issue. Antenna got good reviews and is ~ a 60 mile range. Thanks!

There are several setups that involve permanent mountings, etc:
