Bikes and Boxes on the 320S Boondock Edge Rear Rack

The 2019 Boondock Edge does not come with the LoadWarrior Cargo Basket on the Yakima rails, which was a surprise to us on pickup since it's shown in the sales brochure. Yes, they moved the spare to the tongue, but I'd still like the basket.  So I am thinking of putting a roof-top box (Yakima RocketBox Pro 12} on the rear rails AND two bikes.  I haven't seen much discussion on what that rear Boondock rack is capable of holding.  Any advice out there?

    We have the rack and use it with 2 bikes and folding chairs in the basket. My suggestion is to not bother. Even with light carbon bikes it's tough to put them up there, and I've dented the roof a few times. Put the rack on your vehicle top and you'll have more capacity, with the T@b roof, it's only 75 lbs.  We do carry kayaks on the car sometimes, and then it's nice to have a place for the bikes too, but overall the rack is not super useful.

    Thanks for that info. I am more worried about the wind load with all that stuff up there.  Thoughts?

    I don't think wind is much of an issue,  The T@b is taller than our Xterra, and I couldn't tell any difference with boats and bikes.  I actually get a bit better gas mileage with the kayaks on top,  must do something for the wind flow over the camper.

    I notice you moved the rack down as far as possible so it would be easier for loading and unloading. We just bought and were thinking of exactly the same thing in the spring with simple Yakima bike holders. No problems? Thanks for the picture. :)

    I’m thinking the spare tire is better on the rear rack and a generator on the tongue.  Any thoughts?
