Replacement tires 205 55R16

I need to replace the tires on my 2004 t@b. They are a different size than newer models and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced replacing tires on an older model.  I spoke to a car tire dealer today and they said trailer tires need to be "approved" by the DOT and there could be insurance issues of the "wrong" tires were used....I would think any 205 55R16 tires would be fine.  Any insights?

The DM T@Bs came equipped with the tire size and type you describe.  205/55R16

These are a very common size on many compact cars and available from many manufacturers.  They have load ratings far in excess of the T@B requirements.

Bob is correct. If your tire shop tries to sell you a different size tire, find a different tire shop. Some folks have even resorted to taking the tires and wheels off of the trailer, taking them to the tire shop, having the correct tires put on, then reinstalling the wheels on their trailer.

I've been going to a local Good Year shop for 12 years, and they have always replaced my tires on my 2007 with the correct tires. (I'm about to get my 4th set next month.)
