Outback Tub Stay Ideas

When at home, I usually stretch bungie's from handle to handle and use that to keep my Outback lid open.

What else are people using  that does require a typical folding or gas strut style stay? These take up space and things tend to get caught in them and I want a more simple solution.

I keep a yellow plastic tent peg in the strap for the propane tank (where the bolt is), and I put it in the corner of the lid near the hinge when I open it. It stays in place and the lid no longer smacks my knuckles when removing/installing the propane tank.

I use a spring clamp placed in the corner where the lid meets the box, and it holds it up easily.  The spring clamp spends the rest of the time attached to the propane tank.

I prop it open with one of my trekking poles.
