Plugging Into a Honda EU200i Companion Generator

Hi. I was under the impression that one of the advantages of the Honda EU200i Companion Generator is that you can plug directly into the 30A receptacle. However the electrical cord that came with my 400 will not fit into the 30A receptacle. Is there a way to use the 30A receptacle (rather than using a dogbone to plug into the 20A receptacle)? Thanks.

I bought the same generator three years ago thinking the same thing, that I could plug directly into the generator with the 30A power cord.  I was really disappointed.  An adapter is the only solution.  I've also found that we didn't even need a generator.  Never have used it camping.

The math says you should never find a 30 amp receptacle on a 2000 watt generator.   120 volts times 30 amps is 3600 watts......

if it is that big of a deal,  not sure about clearances,  but you could probably pull out the duplex outlet and replace it with a single 30 amp.

The Honda 2000 companion puts out about 16 amps , works well on standard plug.
