Anyone remove Jensen speakers for extra storage?

I never use the two round speakers and would like to do something with those spaces.  Also would like to install a few USB ports near them to recharge the electronics.  Can I simply tie into the wires for the accent lights near the speakers (12V)?

You could hook up the speaker wires to the 12 VDC power where the radio is installed and use that to power the USB ports.  I may think about removing the speakers too since I have removed the Jensen radio in favor of a Bose Soundbar.  I can just put them in the box with the radio should I ever sell the T@B.

I have removed the speakers and replaced them with a soundbar so my wife uses the existing holes as storage for her socks and PJs.

@klenger & @larrygon, can you show us where/how you installed your soundbars & which models you used?  Nice idea, as I suspect the existing speakers are nothing special.

That Insignia TV looks interesting.  Did the mounting holes match the existing T@B bracket and is the resolution much better than the stock Jensen?

Larry - did you do anything to cover the screw holes and raw wood in the round openings - or does it look OK as is?

Just curious...I don't have my T@B at the house at the moment.  Does the standard monitor that comes in the 2017 320s have a plug for a sound bar?  I'm not sure I want to permanently attach the sound bar because I worry about someone breaking in, but would be interested in bringing one along.  The original speakers are marginal at best.  I was considering replacing them, but I have a sound bar at home already that I could possibly use.

It has one HDMI port and two RCA "Audio Out" outputs (L and R).

I pondered doing the same thing with my unused speakers, but the spaces behind them are uselessly small for my purposes, and I did think the hole would need some prettying up. I ultimately decided it wasn't worth the bother and left the speakers in place. YMMV.

The TV I installed has an optical audio output which I use to feed the sound bar.  You could also use the RCA output with the Jensen TV.  In my case, the new TV was only $80 from Best Buy with 2 HDMI ports and better picture.  The downside of the new TV is that it requires 120 VAC power, which is not readily available at the TV location.  Regarding security, if someone breaks into my T@B, a $200 sound bar will be the least of my worries.

I was going to make a couple of rings to cover the holes but the wife says that it does not bother her so I have not done anything yet

I have gone through a few streaming options since then. I used a Roku for awhile. I now use a wireless HDMI streaming unit that plugs into the TV and connects to my cell phone via Wi-Fi. It seems to work OK. I have not used it too much, so I cannot vouch on how dependable it is but for now I have not had any issues.

Is there a connector on the radio for an external speak..aka sound bar?

@wooper What model of stereo and/or TV do you have? You can send the sound from the TV too if it has audio outputs.

@larrygon I don't have my trailer at home, but it's whatever came with the 2017 T@B 320S.  Tabaz mentioned the TV has and HDMI and L&R audio outs so I think I can easily connect a soundbar.  And the radio probably has an audio out...just not sure.  I'll be checking this weekend.

@larrygon With the wireless HDMI, do you stream Netflix or some other movie channel from your phone?  How's the picture?

@wooper yes, depending on the soundbar left and right out can be used with a soundbar.

I stream Netflix and Amazon from the phone. The picture is amazing with the HDMI streaming device.
