Battery charging clarification

Probably a dumb question and I've done some searching, but not getting anything definitive. Anyway, when I built my new garage I put an RV 30amp plugin on the outside where I park my T@B. If plugged in with the battery switch ON, is the battery being charged, and if so, can it overcharge? Would it be better to just yank the battery during long down times, and use a trickle charger in the garage? TIA

Your battery is charged by the WFCO converter when connected to shore power and the battery switch is on. The converter is a smart charger so you don't have to worry about overcharging.Jon & Angela | Florissant Colorado | 2017 Outback S

For "long term" storage overcharging is not the concern. The real issue is that the WFCO converter is not smart enough to periodically charge the battery fully to 100%. This can shorten the useful life of a battery.

Aha! Sound like pulling the battery (as in Winter) is the best course of action as long as I have a WFCO convertor. Pulling fuses is not a reasonable thing to have to do (IMHO) to eliminate parasitic draws. Thanks for the in-depth info. Never found it in a search.Tom & Susan & Della

If you have a battery cut off switch, you can turn it to OFF and directly connect your smart charger to your battery. Then there will not be any parasitic drain. Or, pull the battery and put it on a smart charger - easy!Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio
