Hot water via Alde

We have recently purchased a TAB 400 and the instructions regarding hot water do not seem clear. Do we need to be plugged into electricity as well as propane to get hot water?

    Everyone is befuddled at first by the Alde controls at first so you are not alone!

    When connected to shorepower you would turn on the Alde Control Panel, Select Menu and then press either 1KW or 2 KW to select the electric power option.
    or
    When running on battery, turn on the propane at the tank and turn on the Alde Control Panel. Select Menu and press the flame icon to utilize propane to generate heat.

    Using either method to heat, press the "+" sign on the row next to the showerhead icon to activate the water heating to about 120, press it a second time for boosting the  hot water to about 140 degrees

    Let us all know what more clarification is needed, or other questions that arise .

    Thank you, that is very clear and yes, we are finding it a little challenging to navigate the Alde system. Glad its not just us!

    Yep, I've read the User Manual at least three times. . . seem to understand the basics now & Love It for both space heat and Hot Water . . . nice design, glad NuCamp added it to these great trailers.

    To expound on @HappyCampers' excellent explanation a bit, the choice between the two options for shore power, 1Kw and 2Kw, would depend on your shore power outlet. ie: in a campground, you might have a dedicated 30 amp outlet, when you would use the 2Kw setting. Whereas in your driveway you may only have a 15 or 20 amp outlet coming from your garage extension cord.

    Functionally, the only difference would be the ability to more rapidly heat your Tab (or water) from cold, using the high power 2Kw setting.

    Also, keep in mind that using both shore power and propane will heat things up even faster... (edit! Using propane combined with electric will heat the the cabin faster, but not the hot water alone)

    With your propane tank open, on the Alde turn on propane and the electric to # 2.  The hot water automatically heats anytime you use the Alde if the Alde tank has water.  Heating up water faster in this way is contingent on cabin temperature, that is the propane will kick on if the cabin temperature is a couple degrees below what is set.  So, if you turn the thermostat way up above the actual cabin temp you will cause the propane to kick in.

    Thanks so much. I have only warm water coming out showers and sinks but if I open the hot water bleeder valve under the trailer the water that comes out is very hot. Any ideas???

    See your other post.  Sounds like your mixer valve needs adjustment.

    Thanks, the valve was adjusted to max hot water already and still only short burst of hot water followed by intermittent warm and cold water.

    When I hook up my tab 320 to electric and even when the heater control is off, the fan seems to be blowing from the heater vent.  The air this last time wasn't hot but the time before it was.

    Aprille4, just a thought, are you sure the fan you are hearing isn’t the converter cooling fan?

    @aprille4, whenever you plug in with the battery switch turned on, the converted runs to charge your battery and a fan is part of that process.  We suspect that is what you are hearing/feeling.  The Alde provides heat via radiators - no fan or blowing air.  If you crack open a window and the overhead fan, it will help air flow and you will feel the heat circulate better.
