i have read that a propane regulator kit is available that should quiet the Alde noise when at high altitudes. I am curious if anyone has had success with this mod. all avaialble comments w

there is a long thread about this. i just got mine as well, havent installed it. but everyone seem to have had success with it.

My 2017 has been up to 8500 feet and I've never had an issue. Also, there are other, more recent, installation threads.

@jgram2 on the last couple of pages on the "Freight Train" thread there is a discussion of the new Alde 3020's that (apparently) come supplied with high altitude kits and settings. I didn't dig in enough to get the details, but 2018 seems to be the approximate date.....

thanks all for the response my Tab Outback is less than 3 years old so will probably get the mod kit and put it in FYI we were at 3000 feet last year and it rumbled

2018 TAB CS ALDE PROBLEMS Thanks to all for this string about Alde heating on propane. I live in Sacramento and camp above Tahoe @ about 8k feet in the summer. Temp swing is only from 40's to 70's. When temps get into 50's and we try to set Alde at mid 60's the inside decibel level is above 30 decibels...garbage truck level. Impossible to sleep. Switching to our Honda 1000i inverter all night is a pain and still too noisy for any nearby campers. A 2018 TAB CS with less than 2 weeks use. Sacramento shop has gone through it twice and are nice but clueless.

We love it. But are trying to figure out whether or not this is a deal breaker and we need to sell it for a loss. All in with some factory/dealer modifications/enhancements we paid $28K.

We're newbies to this group and TAB CS camping. ANY THOUGHTS?

Do you have the Alde 3010 or 3020? I think they started installing the 3020s with the high altitude control with the 2018 models.

Thanks! A 2018 Tab CS but it has an Alde 3010 system (?). Dealer is checking with Nucamp to see if they can replace my "regulator" with a high altitude model. Said they've done this once before.

Not sure why my 2018 model wouldn't have the 3020 system. Plan to ask. Thanks.

nuCamp makes changes mid-model, so an early 2018 may be different than a late 2018. We had the factory altitude fix done on our 2017/ Alde 3010 and it works just fine.

Thinking of replacing our 2017 Outback with a new 320 Boondock or 400 Boondock since our Outback was totaled by a huge tree falling on it in a wind storm. I'm wondering if the newer models come with the Alde propane heater "freight train" problem, or did NuCamp fix it?

I believe the 3020 has the high altitude “kit” already installed.

The 2021 T@B 320 has the 3020 Alde with the built-in high altitude kit.

Someone with the 2020 T@B 320 will need to chime in as I am not 100% sure it has yet 3020 Alde.

@GrandmasKid - that was only an issue with the Alde 3010. NuCamp has been using the Alde 3020 since the 2018 models IIRC. I think you still need to turn on the high altitude mode with the 3020, though.

Yes, @Sharon_is_SAM, the Alde panel has an option to turn on the high altitude mode on the Alde 3020 model. And it does work!
