It was little hard attaching the blocking--IIRC I had to use an angled screwdriver from below--but I managed (photo below).I think later models ditched the clamps and went to blocking.
I think I did that, too--maybe installing one screw just for good measure. It was some time ago, so I'm honestly not 100% certain what I did, but it works fine and everything has stayed put.
