Frigidaire AC Problem

We have a recently purchased 2014 CS-S with the Frigidaire 5000 BTU wall unit AC. We used the AC for the first time this weekend (our second "shakedown" trip) and had the AC compressor cut out twice, while the AC fan continued to work. Turning the unit off for an extended period allowed the compressor to start again.
Both failures occurred with the thermostat set to the maximum setting and outside air temps in the 95-100 degree range. There were no failures when the air temp was cooler. The air filter is clean and nothing was blocking any of the internal or external venting.
Since we live in the desert Southwest, this is a huge problem for us. Anyone else experience the same type of issue or have any ideas of what the problem might be and a possible solution?
Many thanks for any assistance!

did you turn on the auxilary fan? It is a black switch to the right of the AC unit on the bathroom wall. This cools off the compressor and helps prevent overheating. I hope that's all it is.Norm & Pat. 320 S Outback Utah or somewhere else.

Are you connected to shore power or generator ? Are you using a surge protector with Low Voltage protection ?
Low voltage to compressor can cause the problem you have And seriously damage your unit...
I have a 2014 maxx s with that AC and have experienced similar situation before I bought a surge / low volt unit.
Good Luck ...I live where AC is a must...90 degrees and 90 percent humidity today.
There is no aux fan switch on 2014 .
At least not on mine.

I was on 30 amp shore power, and I do have the low voltage surge protector. There is no auxiliary fan switch, but overheating makes sense when I look at how the AC is installed._________________________________________

Cgullett, you don't see a small black switch on the wall in the neighborhood of the A/C? If you turn it to "on" (you'll see red on the switch top), you should hear a small fan noise if it's quiet enough in the T@B.

Verna, they have a 2014 unit. I have a 2015 (early model) and don't have the a/c fan. I don't think try added the fans until later with the 2015 models. PXlated has a fan hand his came shortly after mine, I believe.Verna said:Cgullett, you don't see a small black switch on the wall in the neighborhood of the A/C? I think I would try a battery operated fan to force the heat out. If that works. Wire in a permanent solution.Norm & Pat. 320 S Outback Utah or somewhere else.

Air conditioner compressors have thermal overload switches in them, that explains why the compressor shut itself off and than later came back on. Sounds like a cooling fan IS the solution, either to help exhaust the hot air out or to blow air on to the compressor. The HobbiT@B, 2015-L, towed by a2014 RAM C/V

I read in the "unofficial T@b Manual" a brief mention about a retrofit of a DC fan to cool the compressor that the factory installed. I called Pleasant Valley to ask about this and I hope to hear back from them soon. The current situation means we're really limited to where we can go about a third of the year..... Major bummer._________________________________________

Thanks Jenn. I found the fan file and will make the mod. Very helpful, especially since I never heard back from the factory, which was pretty disapointing._________________________________________

Who'd you talk to at the factory? - Ed's the man but way overloaded and I've rarely gotten a response unless one on the moderators alerts them from discussions here. They need a better system.
-
Cgullett- Could you pass on the "fan file" to make this mod?
-
@PXLated - I left a message with their parts/service department. Kind of a shame as I was also trying to buy a part that's not on their Teardrop web site.
@LARK - I'm not sure if it's permissible to repost the file. It's in the file section of the Yahoo T@b group and is called "Solving the under-performing A/C problem on the 2014 S". Here's the link: https://xa.yimg.com/df/tabtrailers/Solving+the+under-performing+AC+unit.pdf?token=V__gyKgJJbpD5aK_CKe0SVPtLG63FIVYgcrR2ouelqYFYJfwLYnh70HXKUo8BuEDu_WU1YrVNKWwBWO9gkYAdGH60NRT1MxouGECJc1AGWzPw8WdAWoC4UIPjJb9XARACxaGUNrV6ISCW4tibmBFTK_2bGo8Qe4386aopybukvs&type=download

Took forever for me to get approved. Then, didn't like the format so never visit :-(
Wish all the info and docs were over here. -
Chris and Christy: Here is the link to Yahoo's file on the A/C unit's fix. The .pdf file was sent to me by a Yahoo group member. http://tab-rv.vanillaforums.com/discussion/1177/solving-the-underperforming-a-c-unit-problem-of-the-t-b-2014-s-model#latestVerna, Columbus, IN
