Has anyone installed a latch for the bathroom door on a Tab 400?

@Sharpe55, I see nobody has responded to your question. I do not have a specific response, but am wondering if you are interested in adding a latch for inside the bathroom (which is what I presume you are interested in), or outside (to secure the door while towing.)

IF you do put some sort of latch on the outside, make sure there is no way that it can accidentally engage when someone is inside the bathroom. You don't want it to become a "trap" door. I recall that someone on this forum had that happen with the latch that is standard on the older bathroom glass door. As a result of that revelation, I always leave the swivel latch in a downward position while camping to avoid something like that happening.

I found the swivel latch keeps coming loose and will not stay in the latched position when towing even after I tighten it. I'm thinking of removing it and making a latch that slips over the top of the door and engages in the frame attached to the wall. That would prevent the possibility of being locked inside the shower since it could be removed from inside or outside the shower but removed when not towing.

Thinking of a latch to slides into the frame (where I have my fingers) that captures the top of the shower door and could be lifted up to remove the latch when not being towed.

Or maybe make one from a piece of U-channel aluminum, if available in the correct width..

At the bottom left, a very short tab bent at 90° (on both sides) might help to control it.
Also, with a loose enough fit, the default when hitting the brakes would be to drop down & lock the door, if you should forget to lock it.
Sorry, I'm not familiar with the 400 door latch.

@grassgd and @BrianZ, both are clever ideas. I think the U-channel would be the simplest and easy to add. There may be a hard plastic version that might be easier to work with as far as cutting the section of the channel that lifts above the side frame.

@Sharpe55 Would a simple turn button latch keep the door shut on a 400? Something similar is used on my 320's bathroom door (albeit nicer than the one in the link below).

My suggestion above would be difficult to implement on our own T@B which has different framing ..

The TaB400 bathroom has a positive door latch, just like a house bathroom door, and stays shut. This discussion was concerning the older TaB320S which had a shower door for a door, with a spring latch setup, which can open up while uunderway.

@Denny16- My mistake. I thought the original post was about a T@B 400 when Sharpe55 typed Tab 400.

OK, see what you mean, still an additional latch is not necessary on thenTaB400, unless he meant a privacy latch on the inside?
