HOW MUCH JUICE WILL THE STOCK ZAMP OUTLET TAKE?

Hello, just bought a 100w solar panel and want to plug it into the stock zamp plug on my 2015 320s. I bought an adapter to go from the std solar connections to the zamp style plug. Is there any problems doing this?? I've only used it for trickle charging with my 5w solar panel. Newbee to Solar, don't want to fry anything.

@CLAYTAB - does your solar panel have a built in controller like the Zamp suitcases? If not, you need a controller. A 5 watt panel does not need a controller, but you need one with your 100 watt panel.

Millions of Tab owners have done it. I do with my 100 watt panel. As long as you have that polarity adapter (which I assume is the adapter you are describing) you should be good to go.

Except.....I hope there is a solar controller between the panel and that "zamp" plug.

That's the question... I do have a controller that came with the panel, I just didn't know if I needed it, or if the trailer could handle the wattage. Sounds like I need to connect the controller inline, or just forget the zamp and just mount my controller.

You need the controller somewhere between the panel and trailer battery. The Zamp SAE connector has AWG8 pigtail, so can Handel thensamemdurrentnasa no. 8 gauge wire.

Just wire the panel to the solar controller, the solar controller out to the port with your cable and adapter, and you should be fine. A solar controller is definitely needed for a 100 watt panel.
