Rhinoflex Sewer Hose Confusion

Hi all,

So was wondering if you could give me your thoughts on the Rhinoflex 15' sewer hose - we have our T@b 400 on order with delivery when the snow melts, and I've got the Valterra 60" carrier tube on order, though recently I've been getting mixed messages about the Rhinoflex hose.

It seems in the past there used to be a version with locking rings so you could tighten the connection between the hose and the fittings, and move the fittings to a new hose if needed.  People seemed happy with that.  But lately it seems that there's more of a move towards permanently-affixed fittings, glued to the hose, and those there seem to be numerous complaints about leaks.  That said, there also seems to be a wide variety of different part numbers for the same hose!

39760: Bilingual version, seems same as 39762 otherwise
39761: Glued on fittings
39762: Screw-lock fittings
39770: No idea - this one is the one on Amazon.ca and it seems to vary per the comments whether people get the locking-ring version or the glued-down version.  Part number doesn't even exist on Camco website

So question is - which version do you have (glued or locking-ring) and how do you like it?  I'm thinking based on my current reading to go out of my way and spend more to ensure I get the locking-ring version, but I can't trust Amazon since it seems a crapshoot on which version I'll get.  Walmart's a better bet but the version here (https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/camco-39760-rhinoflex-rv-sewer-hose-kit/6000075989325) the image shows the translucent elbow rather than the transparent one I'd prefer, so I don't know.. Even the Camco site shows the wrong images - because they show 39760/39762 as having no locking rings, but the description clearly states they do.  

Why is a simple hose so complicated lol.. Thanks for any insight any of you might have!

    This is the standard 15-foot hose setup, which is what I got from a local dealer:

    What's funny is the URL has '39742' but the Amazon page itself once it opens lists '39770', and the photo doesn't show the locking rings :)  Do you happen to have the box & could confirm the part number you received?

    We have the 39761 from Amazon purchased in 2016 and the fittings lock in place.  I wonder if some of the reports of glue are mistaking the thick coating of lubricant that was used.  I remember that when we bought it there were multiple examples of owners who did not take the time to tighten the locks.  Camco even went out of their way to include special instructions to warn owners about the need to secure the connections.

    I have been extremely satisfied with the Rhino hose. I can extend to the length I want and it stays that length. It scrunches easily back to its storage size. I don’t abuse it, putting it immediately back into it’s tube for storage. 

    Should the end come off, remember that it has reverse threads, which helps keep the ends on the hose. The new one came with what seemed to be avasoline coating on the ends to assist in threading the end to the hose.

    I did toss a cheap hose that came with a Blue Boy. Honestly, it was obvious it was going to tear after a few uses. It was opaque and did not have the strength of the Rhino.

    Hmm yes that's possible, though I've read more than one review stating that the model purchased didn't come with the locking rings and the fittings were permanently glued to the hose, so perhaps that's not it. Also interesting that it's the 39761 you received with locking rings since one forum I came cross explicitly had someone saying that 39761 had glued fittings and 39762 has the locking ring fittings.  Camco's website also confirms 39762 has locking rings but 39761 doesn't.  

    I think my personal conclusion is that too many vendors are selling these interchangably and not under the correct part number much of the time, so it's a toss-up what will actually arrive. Perhaps I'll just need to scout out the model I want in an actual bricks&mortar store!
