Lug Nut Wrench Size?

I have a 2020 T@b 400 BDL. Wondering what size are the tire Lug Nuts? Tried a 19mm socket but that seems loose. Lug Nuts are so tight from factory/dealer I can not break them loose. Want to make sure I use the right size socket before I use a my big breaker bar. Any suggestions

It should be 3/4" / 19mm, which is what I use on my 2019 320 S Boondock Lite wheels. I don't believe there is any difference in the Boondock wheels between the 400 and 320 S.

We have the 2019 BDL with the Aluminum rims and larger tires and those lug nuts are 3/4" A deep socket is required. Torque is supposed to be 95-100 ft/lbs per the "Unofficial Guide":

A 3/8” x 6” extension is connected to a ¾” deep socket for the lug nuts and both have red reflective tape in case you drop them. The two black rods hook-into the jack letting you raise the jack from alongside the trailer. We chose these tools because here is very little space between the wheel housing and the lug nuts preventing you from using a traditional lug nut wrench.

Should be the same if your 2020 has the same tires and rims

You also need a socket that has the same number of flat surfaces as the nut, not a point style socket. I got a 3/4 inch tire lug nut specific impact deep socket (1/2” drive), which fits like a glove. I use it with my torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts on a regular basis.

I got deep impact sockets from Harbor Freight. You can purchase them individually.

@Tampakayaker, I use the Dorman 711-900 AutoGrade Lug Wrench (recommended some time ago by @Verna.) The included deep well socket sizes are: 17mm, 3/4” (19mm), 13/16” and 7/8.” The handle is 16” long and the two sockets (2 lug sizes, at opposite ends, per socket) are 3” long.

We have a Harbor Freight at the end of our street so that's my go to place to get semi decent tools at a good price.

@Tampakayaker, I did get my torque wrench from Harbor Freight. It seems to do the job. But I did have to get an extender and I can’t remember exactly why.....(I haven’t traveled in over a year so I haven’t needed it).

When I got the Dorman lug wrench set, Harbor Freight did not have anything like it.

I bought 2 deep impact sockets and a very long breaker bar from HF. Picked them up using 20% off coupons.

You need a 4 or 6-inch extension for the socket to torque wrench (or breaker bar) handle to clear the wheel and trailer side with the wrench handle.

Interestingly my 2016 T@B Qmax has nine out of ten lug nuts that are 3/4 inch & one that is 13/16 inch. I have been trying to fine somewhere to purchase a replacement 3/4 so all are the same. Checked with auto parts stores & all modern cars now use metric sized lug nuts. One parts store did have some old stock to match but they were 13/16, maybe that is why one of mine is that size (?).

@DanWeitzel, the 13/16” lug nut was probably left over from when nüCamp used the 13/16” on the spare tire when it was stored under the rear of the T@B’s. You may want to try emailing warranty@nucamprv.com to see if they can help you get the last lug nut to be the same size as the others.

But….on the other hand….do you think one different sized lug nut would deter a thief??😉

Hopefully you purchased the 16 inch version? Unless you are as strong as an ox it will be very difficult to tighten the lug nuts to 95 foot pounds with that tool. There is is virtually no mechanical advantage. We do not carry wheel specific wrenches for that reason. We carry use a 25 inch length 1/2 drive torque wrench rated up to 250 foot pounds, a 5 inch extender to clear the wheel and wells and Harbor Freight impact sockets. If someone has ever run a lug nut to 110 foot pounds on one of our wheels, we can get it off without breaking a sweat. And then we can properly retorque it.
