Mystery

In the middle of a camping trip I found this item laying on the floor under the dinette inn my 2019 TAB 400. Does anyone have an idea about what it is and where it should go? I have searched and cannot see any place that it might have fallen from. Everything seems to still work but I am stumped as to where this goes.

It looks a little like the grommet that the holds the stove grate in position.

Thanks for the suggestion but that isn't it. I guess it will go in with my collection of other small bits and pieces that have detached themselves. Maybe it will become obvious at some point in the future. -
It will become obvious where it goes as soon as you lose this mystery part.

That is why I never throw anything away. sooner or later I will find out where it goes. The real trouble is that I can't ever find things I have saved once I find I need them.

@falcon1970, just a guess, but it looks like it may be some sort of wall anchor, because it appears that the ribbed areas are designed to expand and/or grab a wall opening. OR, possibly part of a nylon/plastic rivet, similar to those depicted below, possibly for a window blind or a plastic frame that mounts to a wall:

Might be one of the wall anchors that holds the lower dinette rail in place.2021 400 BD / 2016 VW Touareg / Austin, TX

I wondered if it was a wall anchor that holds one of the buttons in place securing the fabric panels. My additional guess is that it isn't something that fell off your 400. Rather, it was a piece that got swept under an Alde vent during construction and never got vacuumed out.Dan and Liz 2019 TAB 400 BDL 2010 Toyota Tacoma V6 4WD TRD Sport

It doesn't have the pin in the head--or a hole in the head where the pin would have been--so I don't think it is an anchor of some sort. Looks more like a decorative cover for something. Although a piece that fits somewhere on the cool cat system that fell out or was dropped and didn't get swept out is a possibility. I will have to open up the hatch over the cool cat and see if there are similar covers in there somewhere.

I always know where to find any mystery parts because I always put them in a safe place so I can find them when I figure out where it goes. Now if I could ever remember where the safe place is, I'll be all set!

So with trailers and boats, mystery parts are part of the buying and ownership process. It takes years of effort to find them a home and then aha! That is where it goes. Life saving moments!2021 Tab 400 Boondock

I found one too, and under the table of my 2019 -400. My first thought was it was part of the spring mechanism for the table support, but I don’t see how it would fit around the spring and stay in place. Like the watchmaker who had parts left over, but the watch worked anyway; I threw it in the junk drawer.400 - 2019

That is where I thought it went, but I don't see any place to put it. Someday we will discover it's use. Maybe!
