  @Kevin_Campbell Is that a negative symbol I see on the case next to the post on the side where the red wire is connected?

  That does indeed look like a negative symbol! I just looked at three deep cycle lead acid batteries that I have in the garage and they all have the negative terminal on the right side of the battery if you look at it the way it is in the picture.  I would definitely trace the wires and see where they come from before I would proceed.

  @pthomas745 if you ignore the orientation of the label and look at the location of the round posts @WayneW is still correct. Some car batteries have the terminals switched (often indicated by an "R" suffix) but I've never seen that on RV deep cycle style batteries.
