Adding a Valterra Hose Carrier

Hello everyone,

The hose carrier has mounting tabs at both ends but it set up for a flat surface and the only place out of the way with a true flat area is at the rear underneath my t@b 320. See photo.
It's not possible to see what is behind the outer skin because the inside view is blocked with framing and plywood. Has anyone successfully screwed into that area? I don't know how thick the panel is back there and I'm concerned that screwing the large self tapping bolt/screws might be an issue. Has anyone successfully attached anything to this area?

    If you look behind the seat back down into the “black hole” as we call it you’ll see the back side (floor) of the area you are pointing out.

    I don't think I would trust anything screwed into the underside back there, especially on the plastic section.

    I vaguely recall someone repurposing that spare tire mount to hold a sewer hose carrier. You might find a few ideas in this discussion.

    If you are screwing into the frame cross member with stainless hardware you should be ok. I reused the existing drilled holes and added a few more and my setup has been bullet proof going on four years.

    We ended up installing the tube on the frame with stainless hose clamps that I bought at a local hardware store. I did have to cut off the mounting tabs on the Valterra so I could put the tube closer to the center line of the frame. The brake actuator was a consideration and I didn't want to relocate it. It is now securely fastened with 3 clamps. This hose holder isn't going anywhere! Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll post a photo later.

    Yes. I mounted ours in that area.

    I drilled right through into the area behind the seat back, then ran screws through, long enough to accommodate a 'fender' washer to give it lots to pull against, and put a locknut on there. (I think I might have also put a protective cap on each screw inside, so they won't dig into the gear that we store in that space)

    I probably drilled an 'exploratory' hole with a small drill bit before I committed to the larger holes.

    The tube and hose are fairly lightweight.

    It's held fine for 4 years or so.

    I think it looks pretty slick too! (I've since moved the spare tire from that dumb location)
