Outdoor Shower Quick Connect Issue

Quick question.  Reviewed numerous threads on the quick-connect modification for the outdoor shower.  Purchased ½" braided steel water supply hose to connect mixing valve to quick connect.  The water supply hose does not trip the pin in the automatic closing valve in the wall unit mixing valve below.  I can't get water to flow.   What am I missing here?  Special hose for this or does the mixing valve need modification?

    Got it.  Prefer to avoid destroying existing hose.  Will research further.

    @AnOldUR - I'm hoping to complete your version of the outdoor shower modification.  Do you recall where you found the long, stainless shower hose and the associated quick disconnect?  Thanks in advance.

    Also have had issues with the outdoor shower failing, but I'm going a different route:


    I really don't care for the nuckle-destroying shower hardware that NuCamp used, and the one I linked to gets a lot more positive feedback from customers. Fingers crossed that I can make it all fit ok (the cut-out is larger).

    Please tell me about the shower enclosure ... I've been designing something like that, and would rather buy something if a well-designed quality one is commercially available.
