Brake wires being cut into

I have about 4,500 miles on my CS & found the brake wires on both sides being chaffed badly right where they come out of the frame going to the brakes. I think the frame is cut during manufacturing with a die press & it leaves the edge sharp. The edges of the frames are quite sharp there. I am going to lube my bearings and at that time I will put some spy-rail nylon wire protector around that area of the wires.  You might want to check yours. Art

    I agree...those lines weren't very carefully tucked away.  I'm doing the same thing next Spring.

    Reviving this thread as a PSA.  I had trouble with my wireless brake controller and, after hours of fiddling and confirmation from AuTowBrake, the culprit was a short in the brake wires as they exit the frame to the wheels.  It fried my wireless controller!  Not sure what models are affected but it’s easy to check for any damage and fix it before it becomes expensive, like mine did.

    I took 1/4inch vacuum line and slit it long ways to cover the bottom half of the cutout. Then added the nylon/plastic wire dressing stuff to cover the wires.

    FWIW - I just checked my 2023 and the brake wiring is now a jacketed cable and the frame hole it passes thru is grommeted.  Continuous improvement evidence.
