Door catch extender when using awning

When i use my All-pro awning on my 2021 320S, and want to leave the door of my trailer open, the door hits the awning and can't be latched on the door catch on the exterior of the trailer. I was thinking an extender rod from the door catch to the exterior wall catch would be neat. This way, one can leave their door open without worrying about it hitting the awning...... Does this make sense? Does something like this exist? Thanks all!

There are several methods to do this that have been previously posted. I can't remember what I searched to find the threads. Here is something I made up (mostly copied) from other posts. We use this when it's raining and we want the door to stay halfway open because our Moonshade doesn't cover the door when it's fully open. The "stick" is from a plastic cutting board. I drilled two small holes in each end of the stick and drilled corresponding holes, one in the door latch and one in the trailer catch. In the picture I used 2 small cotter keys to hold the door in place. I now use a cotter key in one end and a toothpick in the other. That way if a wind catches the door or I just forget and try to close the door, the toothpick will act as a shear pin and break before anything else does. Easy to place when needed and when removed it does not affect the operation of the catch when used in the fully-open position.I hope this helps.
