Desperate for some screen door help! 2022 Tab400 I bought a couple months ago from a dealer. Screen door partially worked but cord was broken between the crimp and bottom tensioner. It seemed fixable DIY but I can't quite get over the hump. I've looked at all the online resources I can find, mainly the couple threads here on the tabrv-community, they're very helpful but I have a few questions. I'm hoping someone may have gone through this recently and might be able to fill in the gaps! Two photos below, first one shows the whole door assembly, you an see the string broke right below the crimp, otherwise, I think the stringing is good from what I can tell. First question, if I were to redo the crimp and attach a new string and run it down through the aluminum pull bar, and out the bottom, where does it go from there? How does it run to the tensioner? In this model the bottom tensioner is in the lower right corner (facing the door from the inside like this photo) but I can't tell how the string gets to the tensioner from the bar - surely it can't just run along the top of the bottom bar, can it? It seems like it would get destroyed quickly that way! 2nd photo shows a close up of the bottom right piece with the tensioner - is there anything missing? Should there be cover pieces? Thanks for any help anyone might be able to give. -Mark
The design of this door is very elegant but complicated. I spent countless hours attempting to re-string my door without success. Several others on this forum were able to fix their doors. The best way to search this forum is to use Google or Duck Duck Go. They are much better search engines than the forum itself.

@HighPlainsDrifter and @raveykeeg, see if this discussion thread helps you out. I have kept links for many similar discussions, mostly for the 320 S, but this one addresses the 400:
AND, finally, maybe watch this short video. Unfortunately, there is no sound, and may not be exactly the same as your screen door, but maybe worth reviewing anyway (located by @Tabaz back in April 2021):
Late to the party but our 2022 screen broke as well. After reading how to restring, I decided I didn't have it in me and wanted to just buy a replacement. NuCamp says they are no longer manufactured and the new ones are an inch wider. I'm awaiting an answer on what it would cost to have a new one reconfigured to fit by them. I'm also reconsidering attempting a fix myself. What a bummer. I love everything about the trailer except this.

I have an older T@B and I installed a "magic mesh" type screen door as a "temporary fix" something like 10 years ago while I figured out how to install the newer type door. My "temporary fix" is still there and I honestly think it's better suited to the T@B than the retractable door. It's nice to be able to crash through the screen with my hands full.

@HighPlainsDrifter@raveykeeg@Marceline@AnOldUR@NoMITravelers… I recently replaced the original screen in my 2018 T@b400. The original stringing began to fail a couple of summers ago and finally failed completely last summer. I inquired about ordering a replacement from NuCamp through several dealers. At the time (fall of 2025), the screen was available from the factory for a little over $300. However, shipping to California was going to be more than the screen, around $350.
A company called Plisse Screen (Plissescreen.com) provided a very similar to original retractable screen door for approximately $325 INCLUDING SHIPPING to CA.
The quality of the screen door seems to be better than the door that came as original equipment. They can make the door to your precise measurements. You do need to do some assembly of the door frame, but this was quite easy and took me no more than 20 minutes. You do not have to do anything with the stringing of the screen. Obviously you then have to install it in the trailer.
The door fit perfectly and looks great! Highest recommendation from me!
@gande, this is very interesting news. We have a 2019 T@B 400 with a failed retractable screen door. I looked a the website for Plisse Screens and found a Scamp Trailer replacement screen, but nothing for nuCamp. Is the one for the Scamp the one you ordered and installed? Thank you, Scott

@HighPlainsDrifter, I'm revisiting this discussion and wondering what you ended up doing with your door. Looking at your original description and photos, I'm thinking your suggestion of just replacing the end of the string from the crimp to the bottom tensioner would work. Did you try this? Was it successful?
I need to restring my door for the third time. Mine has always broken within the screen so a complete restringing is required.

@scott14 No, I did not order the one for the Scamp. They have an order sheet, which allows you to call out the exact specifications for the door you need. I’ve attached the one I sent them which would probably (?) work for you since you have a 2019. With all the changes they’ve made to the front of the trailer and the dinette area. I wouldn’t trust that this would work for any of the newer 400s. It’s pretty simple to get the correct measurements for the order form.
As I said, in my previous post, I’m extremely happy with my new screen. Gande
Thank you Gande for finding this source. I have a 10 year old T@B 320. I'm on my second screen door. Every time I open and close it, I think "when will this one fail?" They are VERY fragile. Will be ordering one in the next week as a spare. Will share the experience with the Forum for the benefit of those that have a similar model and year T@B.
