Has always bugged me that the two vents (fridge, air conditioner) didn't match the color of the body or trim. Everything else about the T@B says quality and attention to detail. The vents were more like they just sent Harry to the hardware store and he got whatever they had. So, I finally took care of that and painted them...

    Probably gonna stop there for now anyway. The small white, off-white thingies don't stand out like a sore thumb.

    Used this paint that was posted in another thread. Seems to look a little different in different light. Matches trim pretty well in most light, a little off in other but still compatible.



    Just cleaned them up, sanded/steel wooled the metal AC vent and rubbed down with thinner. Used alcohol to final clean the plastic fridge vent. Several coats applied to each.

    Nice PXL.

    I just (finally) installed the MaxxAire roof vent and my DW promptly said 'it doesn't match', so I just might have to (read: "will definitely") paint it to match our red trim. You've inspired me now to take it even further...


    (That plastic pseudo-chrome was getting darned ugly)

    I was thinking of painting those but they are very neatly caulked on my trailer. I am not a good caulker.

    While I had the AC vent off I decided to make a vent cover. I'd made one before like "sable" that just covered the vent and was held on by industrial strength velcro. Sable left his on while traveling so tried that - lasted untill I meet the first semi and it was history. The old velcro was a bear to get off.
    This time I decided to make it so it wrapped around the vent and use magnets to attach it. The foam is on the outside of the vent so maybe no air can get under and lift it off. But, I may just leave it off when traveling - Haven't decided yet.

    Here you can see the cover and back side of vent with magnets glued in place...



    Here's the ingredients ... White electrical tape was used to wrap the edges of the plastic sign board...

    I had a "DUH" moment trying to figure out how you were using magnets on plastic.....DUH!!  Put matching magnets on the vent. The light went on!  Thanks PXLated.

    Did you have a problem removing the caulk and replacing it neatly?

    A plastic spoon is a good inexpensive tool to use, or you can buy a caulk smoother in the caulk section of the hardware stores. I've used both, along with disposable rubber gloves and I actually prefer the purchased, reusable one.

    Photomom - I took a sharp exacto knife and ran it around the edge of the vents holding it out horizontally to break the seal. Then pulled the vents out. The original caulking remained. Before I put them back in I ran a bead of clear caulk on the inside edges of the existing caulk, slid the vent in and had just a little clean up. Basically I resealed the original caulking back to the vent. You can't tell they were ever removed.

    I have the stuff to do that with my FF Ultra Breeze Cover but have not had the time or energy, yet. Also debating between how much turquoise is too much. Would rather it blended with the body, I think, than matched the trim.

    @Pxlated with glamping mod????? Someone call the doctor!

    As I recall the only pictures @PXLated has posted of the inside of his camper have been of the carpet. As far as we know, he has all kinds of kitschy little doodads in there.

    No, I visited PXLated, we cooked dinner outside and I saw the minimalist inside of his T@B. Trust me, he is no glamper! ;)

    I do a lot of one nighters when out shooting - most of the time I don't unhook. Don't want to be messin with a bunch of stuff just to get comfortable. But, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even if I stayed in places for longer all the time. My needs are minimal and my wants even less :-)

    scottG - The same plastic cardboard sign material as Sable used in the original. Wrapped the edges with electrical tape to seal the cut edges so it's basically waterproof.
