Replacement valve knob for freshwater?
JacobyO
Member Posts: 35
After our last camping trip I went to drain the freshwater tank only to find that the valve handle under the stairs was missing. It looks like it just came loose and fell off rather than being broken off by force. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how did you find a replacement? I am not able to find them anywhere.

I've lost two, gave up and just use a pliers to open close now.

yeah, I suppose that is an option. Wasn't sure if that was a method that would lead to an un fixable option, due to clamping and mangling the nub.

It looks like the handle is held on by a tiny upside-down screw. I'm not surprised that it occasionally goes AWOL. Now I'm gonna' check mine for snugness, and maybe even reinstall it with a little threadlocker.
Worst case, if you can undo and redo a PEX compression fitting, you could just replace the entire valve with one of your own choosing.

You could also find a matching screw and use the RED locktite if both threads are metal (I don't feel like crawling under and looking right now). PXL can do it though, he's good at T@B yoga!!

Ya but I rarely drain the fresh water as I'm full time. When I do on the road it's thru the sink to rinse the dump hose etc. If I was filling and draining a lot, I'd replace it with a different type.

So, back to JacobyO's original question...
PXL, if you've lost two handles, you must have replaced one. Where did you find it?
Since, realistically, I probably won't check mine, I'll just plan on losing it at some point and hunting for that replacement. :-)

My first one was lost the first week I had it so the dealer got a new one from the factory. Lost that within a month.

Sheesh. You be hard on 'dem little handles! I can understand why you resorted to the pliers...

It seems as though I might need to shoot an email to Ed and see if this is something I can get my hands on.
