We're heading to Bar Harbor Campground next week.  Just wondering if any one else from this forum will be there also.  If so, stop in and say "HI"  We'll look something like this.

Hope to meet a few of you there!

We were at Mount Desert Campground last week, it was fantastic! Where did the lobsters come from?

Lobsters are from Parsons Seafood on the edge of BH.  Great fresh local seafood and they have fantastic homemade blueberry pies and jam too.   The softshells should be plentiful and cheap by now.  I'm getting anxious!

@rfuss928, isn't that the campground that doesn't take reservations? What's your experience been rolling up there in high summer? No trouble getting a site?

Never been a problem.  They say they very rarely turn anyone away.  "There is an overflow area and sights open up daily."  I have always been able to find an open site that I like (with water and electric) even on  holiday weekends or late arrivals.   Great location for exploring Mt. Desert Island and on the free shuttle route.  Very friendly and accommodating staff.

Good to know--thanks. We visit the area frequently, but in recent years reservations on short notice are hard to come by at the height of tourist season!

You've got to visit Asticou Gardens and Thuya Gardens near Northeast Harbor while there. Both are free for a donation.
