Max S Sleeping arrangements (revisited)

We found that when the bed is made out it is almost impossible for the two of us to stand and move around. Since we do not need a full king size bed. This is working much better for us. We only use one of the back cushions. That gives us about the equivalent of a queen size bed. The extra open space makes it much easier for us to move around at the same time.

Is the extra cushion that you use in the centre one of the standard backrest cushions from the side?

Yes it is snug but it works well.

Hmm... nüCamp should include slats and mounting strips and make this a standard option.
Layout A (5'9"+) would be front to back (6 slats and space filled). Layout B (< 5'9') would be side to side with 3 slats and the extra floor space.
It's also nice to have easy access to the outlet section down there (including Dalehelman's mods).

Good idea Dale.  Our plan with our CS-S is to keep the rear half of the bed made up as a twin bed during the day and the other half maintained as a bench area, much like the area that you have exposed.

Alas, if only I were 2" shorter! :s Great idea Dale, I have 6 bed slats, and there are times that I take 3 of them out, and you're absolutely right, it helps a lot for moving around room! ;)

At 5'6", it's a great solution for me and my 95lbs dog, but Mr. 6'2" has to have the full config.

What do you do with the other 3 side/backrest cushions when you sleep?

This is what you are seeing. The raised rear shelf to allow heat to  escape.

Thanks, makes sense. Is your back shelf hinged as well?

No I did not install hinges since it stays  propped open all of the time.

My cushions are  hinged together so that  unless i cut the fabric and make the cushions w  separate  cusions I am not sure i can do what you did.  Did you have to 'uncouple" the 2 cushions? It is the back cusion and the seat cushion that are  coupled together with a piece of flat cloth.

One of the first things we did was remove the connecting straps to allow more flexibility.

I just cut the straps on ours.  If the wall cushions don't stay up as well,  I'll add some velcro pieces.   Even if we continue with our same sleeping arrangements it will make putting the wall cushions on the slats just a bit quicker and easier.

I like that it leaves the room underneath by the converter.    I put my cat's litter box there.  The height is short, but the cat has no trouble getting under there and doing business.

We do not even bring the back cushions with us. We sleep in twin beds and leave them made up. We have a couple of decorative throw pillows that serve as backrests if we’re just sitting around.

The bench back cushions and funky corner cushions are stored in sealed plastic bags in the garage.
