why does it cost so much money to winterize a tab s?

You mean for the dealer to do it? Same reason my dealer charges $150 for the RVs to use their dump station. People will pay for it if they are deranged enough (or seriously, some people can't because of handicaps). Dealers are in the business of selling and really don't make much money with service work. Most of the time, they are doing warranty work. LOL2017 820R Retro Toy Hauler from 2015 Tabitha T@B from 2009 Reverse LG Teardrop (but a T@Bluver at heart)

Please explain further - One can do it themselves.

Thought so. I've winterized rv s before but we're adised not to on our tab s as it was too complicated. ???

Search the forums here for "winterization" - Several threads with good discussions. The simplest is a straight blowout with a small tire inflator type compressor.
What year is your T@B? Methods vary a little depending on year. -
That's nonsense. Seriously. I've never owned an RV in my life before buying my T@B, but I figured out the winterization process. The dealer's service guy did it this time, but I made him walk me through the process.drpprmt said:Thought so. ours is a brand new 2017 S series. It is winterized now at the dealers but when we pick it up next week they will charge me $160 to de=winterize.

How is it winterized - One method just blows all the water out of the lines and another fills all the lines with antifreeze. Dewinterizing is easier than winterizing. If it's the first method you just fill everything up. With the second, you need to drain and flush/sterilize. Neither too difficult. Just have to get the water/heat valves in the right positions.

We aren't able to bring our new MaxS home yet, but I've read as much as I can about winterization on this forum. It doesn't sound too difficult, and there is no way I'd pay that much for it. I think I will have no problem when the time comes doing it myself. Good luck!2017 T@B 320 Max S silver and cherry red, L@dybug ("Bug" aka my esc@pe pod), TV 2015 Toyota Highlander aka Big Red

I can't imagine paying someone to do this. We used our camper this weekend, and it took me less than 2 hours put everything away, re-winterize, and put the cover on. I'll probably do this 2 or 3 times per winter. I drain the Alde, blow air through the lines, pour some RV antifreeze in the traps, and done. 30 minutes max for that part. It bears repeating you only have to switch the Alde valves to winter mode if you fill the lines with antifreeze. For PNW winters on the wet side, blowing out the lines has been fine.

I am about as mechanically inept as someone can be, yet I have no problem winterizing my T@B and my fifth wheel. It really is quite easy; you just have to be methodical about it. As others have indicated, there are several threads on this forum that explain how to do it. Personally, I prefer the blowout method with antifreeze down the traps (kitchen sink, toilet and shower and, if you have one, the bathroom sink).2022 T@B 400 BD

It sounds like the OP is actually asking how to DEwinterize.
The answer depends on whether the factory winterizes with air or antifreeze. @drpprmt why not call the factory and ask. Either way, you should be able to do it yourself at no cost.John and Henrietta, Late 2016 T@B S Max in Western New York -
Tell them thanks, but no thanks. Dewinterizing is as simple as flushing the RV antifreeze out. Hook it up to city water, open the valves and go.drpprmt said:ours is a brand new 2017 S series. I believe it is the dealer that winterizes the campers, not the factory. They nearly always use the method of filling it with RV antifreeze. The OP should check with their dealer first.Photomom said:It sounds like the OP is actually asking how to DEwinterize.

I doubt they'd get a straight response from this dealer.Cyclonic said:

My trailer came from the factory winterized. I think all the dealer did was run some water thru it.John and Henrietta, Late 2016 T@B S Max in Western New York -
The factory almost has to run the systems before they ship - Mine came drained and dry.
-
I'm not sure if mine was winterized at the factory or dealer, but there was a sticker in the front door window that stated that the camper had been winterized.

OK, I guess it does come from the factory that way.
When we got ours my dealer must have already dewinterized it as part of the prep they do.
