Brake Wiring Issue...

Has anyone had an issue with the brake wiring in the T@B failing or not working? I have a Primus IQ 90160 brake controller. All the testing on this unit and my TV says it is working properly. But when I drive I get the "SH" intermittently or when I brake I get "OL" registering. Currently, my new 2017 T@B S is at the dealer, Tom's Camperland, whom I trust explicitly. They see that it looks like an issue with the T@B but I was wondering if anyone has had a problem before and what the results were.
Thanks, peeps!

@marilyncp, Curious as to what "SH", and "OL" stand for? Do you have an owners manual for this unit, and if so, what does it say in the "trouble shooting" section?2016 T@B MAX S-aka: WolfT@B

Looks like SHort and OverLoad --.
SH: The control detects a short to ground on the electric brake wire (Blue wire).
Possible causes: Short to ground on electric brake wire (Blue wire).OL: The control detects excessive current on the electric brake wire (Blue wire).

Ha, lucky you! I have the same controller with a manual.
"SH" (flashes 2 times per second) Probable Cause: 1. Brake wire sees short during idle conditions
2. Use of some test lights or non- Tekonsha testers can cause this problem
"OL" (flashes 2 times per second) Probable Cause: Brake control "sees" an overload condition during operation
Have you tried un-plugging, let it sit for 5 minutes, and re-plugging it in to see if it will "re-set"?
Check your 7 pin both TV end, and trailer end for corrosion. If any appears, clean as good as possible, and apply a small amount of dielectric grease to pins, and sockets on connectors. ( I use a Q-TIP to do this.)
Hope this is helpful, and that's where I would start. I'd also check the plug-in from the controller to the TV wiring harness as well for a good connection.
Please let me know what you find, thanks.

@TabberJohn, Thanks for the "blue wire" info! Made a notation in my manual as it was not explicit as to which wire would be causing the short!

Thanks... all done prior to taking it down to Tom's... we tested with an Alt Meter, per Tekonsha tech and found it didn't even register anything on the bottom two pins on the 7-pin. Again, everything tested on the TV side. Just curious if anyone has had the same issue. Poor 'c'est l@ vie' is all torn apart right now.ericnliz said:Ha, lucky you! I didn't use bolts!! It was heavy duty aluminum foil. Geesh. That was a great picture though. I asked my friend where he got it and he said an airplane buddy sent it to him, but he doubted it was from one. I bet it was one of them phone switches that V saw when she worked on them!!2017 820R Retro Toy Hauler from 2015 Tabitha T@B from 2009 Reverse LG Teardrop (but a T@Bluver at heart) -

I just bought my 2017 outback in April and on the trip home I got the exact same codes! They didn't start showing errors until we were 100 miles traveled.I took back to dealership to fix.
on the trip back I had no issues with error codes until I was 100 miles into the trip!! My guess was something was overheating( I know nothing mechanical) anyway the tried a new brake controller and had codes still so that wasn't the problem. Traced back to wires in the wheel well area right side awire was being rubbed or pinched.
fixed it but told us if it happened again tell our mechanic where the issue was last time...I have not been on a 100 mile out trip yet but I pray it's okay!Donna 2017 Maryland resident Colorado land owner outback white/black Toyota Tacoma ; ) -
@Donnab thanks for the comments. I think that is my problem too. I'll pass that along tomorrow to my dealer. M@rilyn
