City water cover

Unable to get the city water black cover to stay on. It is attached, of course, but after closing it pops back open in seconds.
Any suggestions,or should I contact the factory? I am not sure a new 'cap' is possible, could be more complicated.

Judy, it's simpler to talk to who ever answers the phone at the factory. They will direct you the the next available qualified person.Verna, Columbus, IN

Having the same problem I put a piece of black electrical tape on the cover. So far it works just fine. I'm sure I'll have to replace the tape at some point.

I use a PVC plug. I don't use the city water much so no biggie to take it off once in a while.Norm & Pat. 320 S Outback Utah or somewhere else.

I have read in other RV forums that many people are concerned with people putting undesirable things into the water tanks if they are not locked. As ours are not lockable, does anyone have any solutions?Ray and Vida Barrick

Mercator, that was our concern. Ed did send me a new male hose plug. Doesn't lock but works.Judy and Mike - Central KY 2014 T@B S M@X towed with Chevy Trailblazer Nights in the T@B: 32

Mine pops back open as well. I was thinking it is the internal air and water content contracting and expanding with the temp fluctuations. Thought about drilling a very small hole in the cover to allow expanding air to escape and not pop the cover off. BUT, have not tried out my theory yet. The PVC plug is probably a good solution.Jim, Kelseyville CA, 2013 T@B "Q", T@BCASA, Silver W/Yellow trim, TV: 2006 Honda Ridgeline

As well as the City Water connection, I am also concerned about the manual fill port that flips open as it would even be easier to pour something into it.judymac said:Mercator, that was our concern. Ed did send me a new male hose plug. Doesn't lock but works.Ray and Vida Barrick

Hey guys, just don't make enemies - Protect the water and they just add sugar to your gas tank :-)

iMine broke last year when the 5 gal water can slipped when I was filling it. It still closes, but doesn't work right so I bought a replacement that has a different style. They come in white or black.2021 T@b 320 Boondock "Mattie Ross" | 2021 T@b Nights: 239 | Total nights in a T@b 455 | 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland | T@b owner since 2014

What does it take to install one of those? Do you need to perform any cutting or glue?
-
I haven't done it yet -waiting for warmer weather, but it appears just to unscrew the old one and remove the old adhesive, then put in the new (included adhesive) and replace the three screws.
