Magnetic Wall / Kitchen Hack

I added some metal to the two side walls in the kitchen, providing some space to hang kitchen utensils using magnetic hooks. When you go to Home Depot, bring a magnet to make sure you're not purchasing aluminum. I made a template out of paper then drew it on the metal. Using gloves I snipped it out then used a hammer and sandpaper to smooth out the edges and get rid of any sharp edges. I glued it on the way using liquid nails specifically made for indoor/outdoor use. Works great for adding extra storage at a campsite.

Eventually I will paint them using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (which can paint anything).

It can, but I sound like a snake oil salesman traveling down the road with all the jingle-jangles. So I have a habit of before leaving camp, changing the trashbag in my small trashcan to a nice clean one, then using the trashcan as a "box" to transport all the junk in from my kitchen counters. All this stuff goes in there too.

@alchemist or Santa's sleigh! The trash can's a good idea. You got me thinking about using this idea somehow in our much smaller kitchen. Thanks.

Both REALLY great ideas/mods. @BirdieJane, How did you affix the tiles, and what kind are they? Very nice look. :)

Here is the URL, cost about $60.00 at Home Depot, or you can find them on line. Even though they are peel and stick I used liquid nails. Seems the fire proofing on wall prevents self adhesive things from sticking.

Very nice, @BirdieJane . I like it, a lot. Were they hard to cut?

I cut the tiles with tin snips, not hard at all. The knives have a plastic sleeve so we used industrial Velcro. 10,000 miles no problem staying On the wall and knives stay in the sleeve

Thanks for the inspiration @BirdieJane!  We removed  the television in our T@b Q and needed to cover the area where the bracket was attached. We want to attach a light weight storage shelf but we are still researching how to secure it properly.

Driftless - metal or vinyl tiles?  Magnets to install?

@Sam the tiles are metal with adhesive backing.  However, like @BirdieJane, we added additional liquid nails adhesive.  They are not magnetic tiles.
