This is very sad and I've been back in here a few times and it is a pristine and beautiful area.

  • We are really taking a beating from fires this year.  The whole west side of the state is on fire.  Here's a shot of the Sprague fire (the one that took the Sperry Chalet) from last night.  You can see the fire on the Lake McDonald Glacier NPS webcam.  Mostly smoke during the day.

Too bad they can't pump water from Texas and Louisiana to put out the fires.....

  • Just left GNP this morning, and was unaware this happened.  Unfortunately I think I took some smoky sunset pictures last night that were most likely part of the chalet. Very, very sad.

The threat continues. We were in Waterton National Park in Canada this spring and parts of it are now closed due to the dry conditions.

  • Breaks my heart to see all these news reports, smoke, fire, chaos, suffering and our beautiful lands burning....  Praying for everyone's safety, that all the fire crews and hotshots get out safely and that calm soon returns!  My hat's off to all of these crews and for the efforts, putting their lives on the line, etc.
