The basement

We have a 2007 DM t@b which we purchased last year. It still had the original five gallon water tank. We decided that we would do something else for water so we dont use it, but would rather use the space for storage. We have nicknamed this area the basement.  We wanted to be able to access this area and but yet still use shelves above. This was what we came up with. It is not hinged so you can just pull it out of need be. You can also pull out the bigger shelf to store bigger items that will not go through the smaller access hole.

I just sawed the shelf in half and made a "piano hinge" from Gorilla Tape.
It is also much easier to get the shelf entirely out of the closet when folded in half.
I did the same for the two shelves I installed above it.
I has been working fine for years!
    Another approach to consider.

@rfuss928 I really like your "piano hinge!" Might have to borrow that for a project I've been mulling over. Thanks!
