UCamp 18 (power tongue jack conversion mod)

If you carry a cordless drill when you camp, and you would like to convert your tongue jack  to power. Come see me. I can hook you up. I will show you how to do it yourself. Or I will do it for you for $10.

For those of us not able to attend, is there a writeup about this somewhere?  My arm is tired from all that cranking...

    Thanks.

Half inch bolt cut off excess threads drill a 5/32” hole 1/2” from the head. Very important that the hole is straight thru the center. Remove top cover. Drive out roll pin in crank. Remove crank. Insert bolt and drive roll pin in drilled hole. Only use a common grade bolt. Hardened bolts will be to hard to drill and are not necessary.

@Dalehelman, I'm not so handy, but I would gladly take you up on your $10 offer. What size socket do I need?

I did this mod also, but switched it back to the handle. Decided that a little exercise never hurt anyone.

Hay, @Dalehelman, can you add me to your list as an “almost maybe”?  I’ll bring the 3/4” socket. I think that’s all...or did I miss the bolt part?  It’s so new....I’ll have to really convince myself it’s necessary.... ;)

Were you able to drill the hole centered in the bolt the first time?

Yes I was able to drill the centered hole on the first try.  I ground a small flat and center punched it before drilling the hole.

Hey @Dalehelman!  I absolutely love this mod!  I’m in a campground in Indiana and the tongue jack is at the very longest it can be due to the slope of the campsite. Oh, without this mod, it would have taken so much effort to crank it up, but not with your mod. Thank you so much!
