@Funkgun - there have been multiple complaints of the Curt Echo controller - dalderfer is “echoing” similar complaints. Just do a search here on the forum. Some folks have not had any problems and are big fans of the Echo. Glad your experience has been positive.
It is amazing that anyone buys these Curt Echos given the consistent theme of grabby brakes, meandering settings and the black art skills required to make them work. There are so many other brake controller options that don't sport all of these issues. What is the attraction to the Echo?
I don't have a T@B trailer, but have extensive issues to share about the Curt Echo brake controller. What I have learned is that this is a known issue with certain tow vehicles. It does not relate (in most cases) to the trailer. Nissan and Audi vehicles are especially at risk, I have a Nissan Frontier. Curt has denied that…
My Curt Echo works absolutely fine with my 320S but if/when one day it gives up, I would seriously consider this one as a wireless replacement: https://getautowbrake.com/
brought to you by "Primus IQ" ...I mean, poster is as new as me on here. No tab trailer, first and only post... so, why we posting then? Curt Echo... I have one, I never had any issues with 2 trailers I owned. No lock up under/over or anything with the Echo. There is always updates on the software. that has to be done to…
The other issue with the Echo unit as noted over on the TaG forum is that turning on your TV hazard lights will activate the brakes. Apparently there is a setting on the Curt app that you need to engage to prevent this from happening.
I can see where a lot of different Bluetooth operations could cause signal issues. I would bet metalized window tint will degrade the signal as well. The new Echo controller app is different. It looks to me like the old app only worked the Echo and the new app works all the Curt products using Bluetooth. Once you get past…
My brakes are getting adjusted tomorrow so I can rule that out. I’ll see what the mechanic says and then contact Curt if no adjustment was necessary in my reading, I have to agree with TomCanada, it sure seems like a lot of people have this problem with the Echo
We have a 2021 T@B 320 S Boondock and are using the Curt Echo wireless brake controller. I am not new to towing but new to using an electric brake controller. At slow speeds (<25 MPH) when I apply the brakes, the trailer brakes apply fully. This lurches the TV forward. I was expecting a more smooth application of the…
@RHW I had a Tekonsha P3 hard-wired brake controller and never ever noticed grabbiness, but often do have it on the Echo wireless unit. It acts like it doesn't have 100 different current values to send to the camper brakes, but only has 10 possible values... so seems jerky at low speeds. And it also acts like its built-in…
