Man, it took some digging but I found out that you have to take the bearing nut off and pull the drum. Took me well over 8 hours to find all the information and to find the proper grease at a store so I thought I would share. I live in the country so that added to the time. I don't like pulling bearings out but, I found…
I disagree. This topic was discussed at uCamp. I believe the problem is terminology. The traditional use of the term repack means to remove the hub and manually clean and “repack” the grease - which Dexter advocates for their “standard” (non-EZ lube) bearings. https://www.dexteraxle.com/resources/videos/bearing-maintenance…
My thread from 2020 describes my similar problem -- it was the cool side with the problem. Grease had been pushed out of the EZ Lube bearing, fouling the shoes and drum, and the opposite brake was still doing its thing and overheating. Open up the brake drum of the cool side and see if you have grease in there.
I need to grease my wheel bearings before heading off across the country next week. My partner has an old grease gun from his father (so it's really old!). Off hand, I can see that there's no Zerk fitting on the end. I presume I can buy one but given the age of this gun, in not sure if I should or just buy a new one. Can…
Just an fyi. Any mechanic will tell you that putting grease in via the grease fitting doesnt do anything except push thro the seal if you over pump. You need to disassemble the bearing wash out the contaminated grease and repack by "throwing" the bearing roller section into the little grease bucket container. Wipe out the…
Look for a place that sells and services horse trailers and utility trailers that landscapers use. They should be able to do your inspection and also do maintenance like greasing your wheel bearings if needed.
My goal in life now is to avoid snow and below freezing cold at all costs - Secondly, avoid this extreme heat. I'd be gone already but have an appt. on Monday to get the bearings greased.
I have a 2021 that was purchased June 2021. We put about 8,000 miles in a bit more than a year. Since then it has been stored away, but for one short trip. We are planning on two major trips coming up soon so I decided that it was time to repack the bearings. To my surprise both grease seals were leaking badly. Thankfully…
While the ALKO bearings are maintenance free and do not have to be greased, they do wear out over time. I think LG still carries them. Any mechanic should be able to replace them.
By accident, got some wheel bearing grease on two of my fabric seat cushions. Thought I'd have to replace the fabric. Used this Woolite product and was surprised that both stains were gone! My seat cushion is below the Woolite for reference.
