Window sealant

Michael49Michael49 Member Posts: 140
After doing a bit of a search here this seems like it may be a bit of a loaded question :), but I want to apply some sealant around the windows in my 400. I use lap sealant on the roof, but I don't think my grey lap sealant will look very appealing around the windows - something black or clear would be preferable.

I was considering Geocel RV sealant....

or 3M 4200.....

Any other suggestions?

Are you having leak problems?  The window gaskets (at least in my 2019 400) do a pretty good job keeping water out.  Adding sealant might just cause a problem rather than forestalling one.

@Michael49, check out this thread “Caulking Guide”.  A 320 owner near the bottom discusses window caulk.

You might be right, it may very well be unnecessary - my concern is that starting at the end of the Summer will plan to do some long term traveling in our 400 (6-12 months) and a having a leak when its our primary residence seems like it would be unpleasant :) - so trying to do everything I can to avoid this.

@Michael49, I had my T@B S Max (forerunner to the 320) for 3 years with a lot of time spent in Arizona. I’ve had my 400 for almost two years, living full time in it for 18 months and 6 months of that was in Arizona. It’s only been under cover for two weeks (It was snowing when I moved into my new house and I never got around to putting the cover on).

Knock on wood, no window leaks in 5 years.
